Senior outfit guide: How to make sure your outfit for your senior photoshoot is perfect.

If you’re anything like me then you probably are a planner. Senior picture outfits play a huge part in how your pictures will turn out. If you have gotten photos taken before then this is probably something you don’t have to worry about, cause let’s be honest you’re probably an outfit pro by now. If you’ve never had your photos professionally taken before, this resource was made just for you. This guide has outfit do’s and don’t to make sure your outfit doesn’t ruin your photos and so you feel more confident at your senior shoot.

DON'T:

1. Choose colors that don’t match

( try to coordinate colors that match if you plan on layering if you don’t know if it looks good send it to your photographer and they’ll help you choose what outfits are best)

3.Wrinkled clothes

( make sure to iron all of your clothes before your shoot, hate to break it to you but wrinkles aren’t cute)

4. Ripped jeans

( again they bring the attention off of you and the photos are meant to capture you)

5. Don’t wear too many accessories. I recommend one or two pieces. Make sure they are dainty pieces, you don’t want a chunky ring to be in your face with close up shots! If you have one that’s special to you maybe your grandma gave it to you then definitely include it in a couple photos.

6. If you read any of these I recommend you remember this one!! Don’t wear logos, unless it’s a branding shoot you aren’t here to advertise for a company you are here to capture your senior year and how you looked etc. These can be a big distraction and can take away from the images.

Do:

1. Layer clothing! But only if it’s cold outside.

( jackets , sweaters, vests, etc)

2. Avoid patterns

( stripes, small and large patterns distract the eye, plaid is a good choice if you do prefer patterns)

3. Wear a dress.

( Dresses can help make movement in your images)

4. Wear solids!

( neutral colors usually match best with your location)

Example- beige, white, gray, blacks etc…

5. Let me guess you probably have a Pinterest board with all the poses, outfits and color schemes that you’ve made before you were even a sophomore in high school. If you don’t consider making one, and then send me it so I can get a better intention for your shoot.

6. Make sure you add a pop of color to show your personality in your images.

7. Dress comfortably

You may love the dress but every 5 seconds you are having to adjust it. Make sure your outfit fits you how you want it to and that you aren’t having to adjust it the whole session. On that note, wear something you feel comfortable sitting, standing and kneeling down in.

7. Keep the location, season and weather in mind.

As you are getting closer to your senior shoot make sure your outfits are a right fit for the season, because agin comfort is key. So if it’s 100 degrees outside you probably shouldn’t wear a knitted sweater or jeans.

If you need any help, reach out to your photographer. Bottom line: make sure you feel comfortable and confident and true to your style!
